Problem & context
AI assistants need useful mail tools while keeping account routing, connection lifecycle and write actions explicit.
My contribution
Built Gmail research workflows exposed through MCP, with per-user storage, explicit routing and guarded write actions. Added hosted OAuth onboarding and packaged local stdio and Streamable HTTP transports.
Decisions & tradeoffs
Implemented encrypted, single-use OAuth transactions, scope checks and revocation before local deletion. Added host configuration tools and revision checks for mismatched installations.
Outcome
A private mail integration with hosted OAuth and explicitly selected Gmail and Outlook mailboxes. In an October 2026 pilot, metadata search, pagination and manual reconnect were exercised in the running product.
