Problem & context

Research needs more than a one-off answer: source material, citations and the relationship between questions should remain accessible.

My contribution

Built bounded retrieval, ranking, persistent research history and cited synthesis. Added visible search activity, a source drawer and contextual follow-ups. Added an image gallery filtered against query terms, with links to the original image pages.

Decisions & tradeoffs

Keep provider credentials outside the application. Make suggestions editable before submission, preserve follow-up relationships, and retain source activity after cancellation or a failed generation.

Keep image discovery separate from factual synthesis: images do not enter the evidence packet or generation prompt. Term matching narrows results without guaranteeing their relevance.

Outcome

Implemented source-grounded answers with persistent history, contextual follow-ups and inspectable research activity.
